Learn about the XYCAST Network

Welcome to XYcast

No wireless signal? No cellular network? No problem.

Get the game within the game directly from your smartphone and right at your stadium seat with the XYCAST Personal Data Receiver (PDR). Paired seamlessly via Bluetooth with your iOS or Android smartphone, the XYCAST PDR is no bigger than a credit card. Simply slip the ¼ inch thick PDR into a purse or pocket and watch your phone come to life with rich, real-time gameplay content from your favorite team.

Whether in your stadium seat or tailgating outside the arena before the big game, youll receive uninterrupted venue and event-specific custom content on your phone, all thanks to XYCASTs proprietary digital data broadcasting system.

About XYCAST

XYCAST was created by sports fans for sports fans to make live, gameday experiences more fun and entertaining.

XYCAST co-founder, successful entrepreneur and Auburn alum, Bruce Cox, had a vision to transform todays mobile fan experience at live events.

A fan himself, Cox understood why game-time stadium fans want to connect with their favorite sporting and event sites on their phones. But even with executives investing millions in stadium and arena network infrastructure to enhance connectivity, it remained an enormous challenge when a packed stadium of smartphone-wielding fans simultaneously tried to connect during a game. All too often, the result was simply prohibitive wireless hardware costs for arena and stadium executives, which in turn were often passed on to the fans.

Cox knew there had to be a better solution. Coxs research led him to XYCAST co-founder, accomplished engineer and Annapolis graduate, CY Smiths proprietary protocol. That protocol is what powers XYCASTs Digital Data Broadcasting Network today.

In August 2014, the next phase of XYCAST begins as XYCAST begins broadcasting to a limited number of fans at Auburn, Florida State, Michigan, Navy, and South Carolina.

What is The XYCAST Network

XYCASTs unique wireless data broadcasting network is more than just our next-generation technology. We partner with sports teams, venue owners, and stadium operators to provide content that entertains, informs, and engages their audience at live events.

Together, we develop the right balance of event and venue-specific information as well as unique entertainment experiences that meet the specific needs of fans, attendees, and venue owners at live events.

We enable our partners to broadcast video highlights, pictures, audio files, score updates, game and player stats, instant messages, promotions, and interactive games that are viewed inside an app on the fans personal iPhone or Android phone, all without the need for WiFi or cell network connectivity.

HOW Xycast WORKs

XYCAST works much like your AM/FM radio. If you are within the range of a radio station and your radio is tuned to that station, you can listen to the radios audio broadcast.

To receive the XYCAST broadcast, a fan needs three things:

 A mobile smartphone
The credit-card-sized XYCAST Personal Data Receiver (PDR)
An App that is powered by XYCAST

CONNECTING TO THE XYCAST NETWORK

1. At stadiums and venues where XYCAST is installed, an event-specific broadcast begins that can be received within a one-mile radius of the stadium.

2. Fans carrying the small PDR sync the PDR with their smartphone via Bluetooth.

3. A XYCAST App that is designed specifically for the event is downloaded to the fans mobile device.

4. Once the App is launched, the XYCAST broadcast is received on the fanâs mobile device. The PDR can only  be paired to one mobile device at a time, however the PDR can be shared with friends and family during an event.

USING THE PDR

The PDR is able to receive broadcasts at all XYCAST enabled venues, not just the home stadium of your favorite team. The PDR is 3½ inches long and 1 inch wide. It is battery powered, with each charge lasting 6-8 hours. Each PDR contains a unique embedded RFID chip which will enable future applications. As the XYCAST network grows into new venues, the power and potential uses of the PDR will grow as well.

WHERE CAN I EXPERIENCE XYCAST

XYCAST launches August 2014 and will be broadcasting to a select number of fans at Auburn, Florida State, Michigan, Navy, and South Carolina.

During the 2014 college football season, XYCAST will continue to work with fans and athletic departments to determine the best programing strategies and entertainment features of our new network.

As the season progresses, XYCAST will install new technology in additional stadiums to broaden the reach of our broadcast network and we will continue to expand our broadcast audience by making PDRs available beyond the initial pilot programs.
